Working from home, advantages:

Calm working environment:

Even though it has been proven that open office space is not good, nearly 70% of businesses in the US have open office space. In such work environment we do not feel the best and we are less productive. We could be disturbed by loud colleagues and irrelevant conversations.

If you work from home, you do not have these problems, because you can work in peace at home. No one will disturb and control you there. It will be easier to relax and focus on work. You will be more productive and happier.

Working anywhere, anytime:

To me, this is one of the best advantages. I don’t work online because of money. Of course, earnings are desirable, but freedom means even more to me. You don’t have to ask your boss when you can go on vacation. You can work in the morning, afternoon or even in the evening.

You can work anywhere and anytime you want. You can even work while traveling around the world. If this is not the freedom that everyone wants to have then I really do not know which job offers even more freedom.

You can save some money:

When you work from home, you can save up to 3000$ a year. You don’t have to spend so much money on new clothes and shoes, expensive lunches and drinks, parking fees, coffee, gasoline, car service and more.

If you are frugal, you can spend money more wisely when working from home. For example, invest your saved money in your home business and if your business is running well, you will quickly get your investment back and earn an extra thousand or more.

Working from home, disadvantages:

We do not work in a team:

This is only disadvantage for those that enjoy working in a team, those that like talking to co-workers while working and joke around sometimes. If we work from home, we don’t have that. At home, we can be completely alone and therefore bored.

If we do not enjoy working alone then it is better to rent an office and bring another employee with us. Or we can communicate with a family member every once in a while when working from home. This makes our work pass quicker and our breaks more fun.

We have more distractions:

At home, we have more distractions that can occupy us. During work we may be checking social networks, checking out what’s on TV, grab some cookies or a piece of cake, maybe make some coffee.

Because of this we can quickly waste 2 hours. We need to have some boundaries. We can be quickly distracted by other things at home. So we have to be careful and constantly focused on actual work.

Without work, there are no results:

This rule obviously applies to regular jobs as well. But there could still be days in some regular jobs when we won’t be doing a lot of work. When working from home, we should be aware that everything depends on our work even more. The harder we work, the better results we can expect at the end of the month.

This is an advantage and disadvantage at the same time. It is an advantage for those who like to work for stimulating earnings. However, it is a disadvantage for those who find it hard to focus on work when they do not have a boss who dictates what to do.
